T Exchanging the Status between Clients of Geospatial Web Services and GIS applications using Atom
نویسندگان
چکیده
Today, the discovery and sharing of geospatial information over the Web presents some difficulties which have not yet been solved. News distribution through website content was simplified by the use of Really Simple Syndication (RSS) and Atom syndication formats. This paper exposes an extension of Atom to redistribute references to geospatial information in a Spatial Data Infrastructure distributed environment. A geospatial client can save the status of the application and share this status with other users that need to deal with the same information and use different client vendor products in an interoperable way. The extensibility of the Atom format was essential to define a format that could be used in RSS enabled web browser, Mass Market map viewers and emerging geospatial enable integrated clients that support Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) services. The status exchange between a web client application and Geographic Information System desktop solution is demonstrated.

Message Exchanges for Web Service-based Mapping Services
The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) [1] defines a number of standards, both for data models and for online services, that has been widely adopted in the Geographical Information System (GIS) community. This has lead to a number of software development efforts, online data archives, and application communities. The emergence of Web Service technique overcomes the shortcoming of traditional Dist...
متن کاملSupporting Mobile Gis Applications by Geospatial Web Services
Spatial data infrastructures (SDI) providing geospatial web services as well as mobile GIS software become more and more popular. Fields like disaster management require the use of SDIs as well as of mobile applications. However, the scarce resources of mobile devices in respect of memory size, computing power, display size and communication bandwidth make an integration difficult and obstruct ...
متن کاملInteroperability through Web Services: Evaluating OGC Standards in Client Development for Spatial Data Infrastructures
Interoperability is one of the most important challenges related to GIS. Through the last years, research on interoperability has evolved from the simple off-line exchange of standardized-format files, through the establishment of spatial data clearinghouses, and to the first initiatives in the treatment of semantic aspects of data. The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) has proposed a number of ...
متن کاملGeospatial Web Services for E-municipality
Municipality activities require interoperability both between municipality offices, and government and private sector. Due to the lack of interoperability, traditional municipalities, and governments face serious problems. These are mainly poor quality and high cost of services, and low economical revenues. E-municipality has been proposed for solving these problems. An interoperability infrast...
